This is by far the biggest question that everyone asks in relationship to waking up their loved ones who are entrapped by the religion "Jehovah's Witnesses" and the parent corporation "Watchtower Bible and Tract Society".

There are too many websites and articles out there that talk about everything that is wrong with the religion Jehovah's Witness. This site is different from all those in the sense that it tells you of the steps to take in order to wake up a JW.

This process is very tricky and will need a lot of patience on your part. Or, you will end up all alone and abandoned by your loved ones. If your whole family is in the organization, they might run to the elders and claim that you turned apostate.

In order for you to wake up a JW, you NEED to be in good-standing, or atleast, your family needs to think that you are in good standing and would listen to what you have to say. Otherwise, everything coming out of your mouth would be apostate material which would lead to immediate denial and blocking by the JW. Only deal with 1 family member at a time. Dealing with a group is very difficult and you might get accused of apostate thinking real fast.

Step 1 - Find the weak point: Every JW has a weak point in their faith. By weak point I dont mean something that they dont fully understand because they leave that "in Jehovah's hands". The weak point is something that has really bothered them about their faith.

Here's a list of various weak-points:

  1. 607 BCE - Every website you search on the internet, any library that you go to, they all say that Jerusalem was destroyed in 587-588 BCE. WTBTS literature claims that the records were faulty and so they add 20 years to mathematically make their theory correct and give you the date of 1914.
  2. 1914 - Russell stated that the world would end in 1914, but since it didnt, the WTBTS now states that Russell said "the Gentile Times have ended", after the fact. They also state that Jesus began reigning in heaven in 1914.
  3. Elders - The behavior of elders in relationship to disfellowshipping or censuring can lead to a person's waking up. It all depends on the issues and the circumstances. Tact is of the utmost importance.
  4. Pedophilia - Perhaps your loved one saw how a case of pedophilia in the congregation was kept a secret, and nothing ever happened, except "leaving it in Jehovah's hands".
  5. Doctrinal Issues - There are several doctrinal issues and I wont be discussing all of them here. However, there are a lot of verses in the Bible that are incompatible with the teachings of the Watchtower. If your loved one has a particular one that they are stuck on, use the internet to find the true answer, and help your loved one to see the answer.
Step 2 - Do your research: Once you find the weak-spot of your loved one, Do some research. It would be worthless talking about a topic you know very little about. You can use  JWfacts.com to find information on the weak-point. Beware, there are several web-sites out there that are pro-witnesses (meaning, those are websites run by the Watchtower to support their ideas too further confuse people who are doing research).

Step 3 - Plant the seed: Approach the weak-point topic very carefully at the right time. Your goal, is to plant a seed, or an idea, not argue. You are simply scouting to see how your loved one reacts to a statement. Make sure that your statement is not too revealing or doesnt give away the fact that you have become
